meet Shannon

Shannon Grady is a native South Carolinian and an alumnus of Coastal Carolina. She is a retired high school history, government and economics teacher and a veteran of the US Navy. Shannon has been married to retired Army LTC Matthew Grady for what will be 19 years in 2024, and they have a 16-year-old son, Sean. The family moved from the Hunters Ridge area where they had rented since 2018, to their new home in Forestbrook Estates after its construction in 2020.

Forward Church is the place where the Grady family worships and where Shannon serves in the Praise Band. Shannon has been a Christian since age 8 when she accepted Christ as her Savior in a small Baptist church in York, SC in 1978. It was as a missionary teacher in South Korea that she met and later married her husband, Matthew Grady. Faith is an integral part of how Shannon lives, serves, and works in the community.

Mrs. Grady has been active in the Republican Party since becoming a member of the TARs (Teenage Republicans) in 1986, while President Ronald Reagan was in office. Her political involvement continued once the family settled in Horry after a 20-plus-year career in the Army family. Shannon joined the Horry County Republican Women’s Club and volunteered to work at the GOP headquarters for the 2020 campaign cycle. There she helped canvas the neighborhoods encouraging voters to turn out for the Republican candidates and putting together hundreds of signs for the various campaigns.

In December of 2021, Shannon was elected the President of the Horry County Republican Women’s club and helped guide the club to its largest membership to date. She also helped secure the first in the state physical location for the club to hold meetings, candidate forums, an other political events. The highlight event was hosting the Governor and Lt. Governor for their re-election campaign. Mrs. Grady was also elected to be the Executive Committeewoman representing the Socastee 3 precinct.

Currently, Shannon and her husband own a small business in Conway, SC. The business is located on Third Avenue in the thriving downtown area. Sports Replayed just celebrated its one-year anniversary and the thrill of being a small business owner continues. Along with that thrill comes challenges; and so, it is something that Grady believes will help in demonstrating to other small business owners in the district, that she understands firsthand the challenges they face.

Shannon is committed to being a fiscal conservative and to adhering to the principles of Republicanism. She believes in small government, lower taxes, and following the Constitution.
